High School Oratory Contest

Julie_Crookston.jpg      The National Right to Life Jane B Thompson Pro-Life Oratory Contest is sponsored locally each year Right to Life of Northeast Ohio and coordinated by our Youth for Life of Northeast Ohio.  This contest strives to promote the ability of high school students to share their pro-life views with others.  Although speaking ability is important, this contest also seeks to help teens organize and express their pro-life views, and gives them an opportunity to meet other pro-life teens.  All high school students are encouraged to enter the contest, however, only high school juniors and seniors are eligible to win at the state and national levels.  Schools, churches and pro-life organizations conduct their own contest during the month of February, and the winners of these contests then compete at the county chapters of Right to Life.

Winners of the county chapter go on the compete at the state level with Ohio Right to Life.   The winner of the state contest is then sent to the National Right to Life convention in the summer to compete for a national prize.   Local judging usually takes place in March, and the state contest usually takes place in April.
